We are delighted to report that we now have official charity status in Romania!
This is a huge achievement as it is the first administrative step toward owning our own land and kennels. We can't tell you how much difference this will make to our Romanian operations as it will provide us with a back up shelter for our dogs should our contract to run the public shelter in Curtea de Arges comes to an end.
"It's very exciting news," said PPTF director, Rebecca Smyth. "It's the first step of many, but we're thrilled that we're on our way to owning our own kennels.
If, for whatever reason, we don't win the bid for the public shelter again when it is up for renewal next spring, all of the dogs would be in jeopardy, so it’s been extremely important to us to ensure a safety net for them."
Shelter managers Tony and Mari have been hard at work finding suitable land for this project and working out the costs for all the infrastructure. We will keep you updated on our next steps over the coming months.
Please get in touch if you would like to be involved in our fundraising efforts for this project.
