Meet Sunny ❤️

1 Year old Medium/large Female
Available for Foster or Adoption
Based in Kent
⭐️ADOPTION BY DONATION ⭐️
Meet Sunny, Sunny lives with children in the home, and while she generally gets on with them, she has shown food guarding and bed guarding behaviours. She currently lives with a small two-year-old dog, but she does not get along consistently with other dogs and would be best suited to a home as an only dog. She has not lived with cats and displays strong prey drive when cats enter the garden, attempting to chase or attack them.
Sunny does not tolerate visitors in the home well. She can bark, nip, and growl at people entering the house, and this has caused some family members to feel intimidated. She has bitten her owner on one occasion and can display defensive or aggressive behaviours when involved in conflict with other dogs.
Sunny displays resource guarding around her food, which must be carefully managed. She does not accept a collar, harness, or lead, and while walking, she tends to pull and currently has no reliable recall. On walks, she can be nervous and unsure around other dogs and people, and she benefits from confident, experienced handling in controlled environments.
Sunny is not toilet trained and is not crate trained. She can be destructive indoors, having damaged furniture, blinds, and household items, particularly when frustrated or seeking access to toys and food. She barks and cries when left alone and tends to be noisy overnight. She does not travel well in the car and may experience discomfort during journeys.
Sunny has worked with a behaviourist to help improve her interactions with other dogs, particularly her current housemate, but progress has been limited, and she requires a home where she can be the only dog. She enjoys cuddles, food, and playing in water, but dislikes not receiving attention. She thrives with calm, patient handling and benefits from structured, consistent management.
The reason for rehoming is that Sunny and the resident dog do not get along. Despite management and training support, the household dynamic has proven unsafe and stressful for all involved. The owners feel that she would thrive best as an only dog in a home where she can receive the focused attention and structure she needs for her well-being.
