💙 Meet Bernie, Bernie is a highly affectionate and loving dog once he knows and trusts you. He adores belly rubs and snuggling with his people, and enjoys playing with soft toys and relaxing on his bed.

Bernie is wary of strangers and finds new people, visitors and busy environments very stressful. He is more comfortable with women and can be more wary of men.

Bernie can also be fear reactive towards dogs and vehicles on walks. He is generally calm in quiet areas. Bernie does walk calmly when there are no triggers and does not pull unless reacting.

Bernie currently lives in an adult home and has had limited exposure to children. He has met visiting children aged five and eight but was hesitant around them. His owners are unsure how he would react to a young child in the home and feel that a home without children would be best for his comfort and safety.

Bernie does not currently live with other dogs. He has walked with a small dog and was fine when the dog was calm and not trying to play but became nervous and reactive when the other dog was excitable. By the end of the walk, he was more relaxed and allowed the dog to come closer. Bernie would prefer a dog free home but could consider calmer dogs in an experienced home.

Bernie has not lived with cats. He has seen cats on walks and has shown no signs of prey drive, though he will bark at birds and squirrels from the garden.

Bernie is toilet trained and crate trained. He is clean overnight and sleeps soundly in the kitchen on his bed. He is left alone for around six hours on weekdays and is content in his own company, showing no signs of distress or anxiety when left. He has never been destructive. He travels well in the car, though he has occasionally been car sick.
